Addressing the Math Bottleneck with Dr. Nathan Klingbeil

We are excited to announce that Dr. Nathan Klingbeil – Professor of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Wright State University and member of the Engineering Plus Alliance – will hold a virtual presentation on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 12pm

The presentation will be “Addressing the Math Bottleneck: Impact on Access and Equity in Engineering.” The presentation will cover Dr. Klingbeil’s successful implementation of EGR 101 – a course designed with his fellow colleagues to increase engineering access, retention, and efficacy for all students and particularly students of historically excluded groups. Also, Dr. Klingbeil will provide some insight into how he garnered buy-in from fellow faculty and administrators to put his plan into action.

During the second half of the meeting, there will be time for questions and discussion. You are encouraged to invite any of your colleagues who might be interested in hearing about this work.

This is an exciting example of a successfully implemented engineering program/course that addresses the obstacle of student math preparedness in engineering with hard data to back it up!

We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts!
