Thank you for contacting the Baskin Engineering Undergraduate Advising Office!
We look forward to assisting you.
Continuing Students
From Monday, July 1 – Tuesday, September 3, we will be focusing on incoming first year and transfer students. For more information about support available to students during this time, please see below. Thank you!
Please visit our peer advisor chat hours for the following types of questions:
- Quick Questions
- Brief explanations or clarifications of BE policies or processes
- If you have a form that requires an academic plan, or are being asked to submit a signed academic plan to a campus office, please work with a peer advisor first on creating and reviewing an academic plan.
The Peer Advisor chat hours and information on how to chat can be found here. During Virtual Advising Week and the new student enrollment period (August 5 – 22), we will need to prioritize our new students during chat hours.
If you have a critical, time sensitive matter, such as:
- If you need a signature on a time sensitive form, such as for Fall 2024 enrollment, financial aid, or a campus deadline that falls before September 3, please send an email (with the form attached) to: bsoeadvising@ucsc.edu
- Students who have another type of urgent advising need should send an email to bsoeadvising@ucsc.edu and indicate in the subject line that it is urgent, as well as a date that your request is needed by. In the body of the email, please indicate succinctly what your request is.
We will make our best efforts to respond to urgent matters as quickly as possible. Please know that depending on the content and timing of your request, it may take us a little longer to respond (if we need to coordinate with faculty, for example) but we will get back to you as soon as we are able.
New Students
Incoming New Frosh
Welcome to UCSC! We’re excited to meet you.
What to enroll in for your major in Fall:
Incoming frosh seeking enrollment guidance will be given the tools necessary for choosing and enrolling in classes as a part of Slug Orientation. If you would like to know which classes we recommend that you enroll in during your first quarter, the Getting Started in the Major Guides are a good place to start.
How to get major advising questions answered:
If after reading through the Getting Started In Your Major Guides, you have some questions about your fall enrollment in major classes, our peer advisors will be available to answer questions via Google Chat. The peer advisor chat hours and information on how to chat can be found here.
Incoming New Transfer Students
Welcome to UCSC! We’re excited to meet you.
Incoming transfer students that were admitted to a BE major and have submitted their unofficial transcripts, will receive an email during the week of July 8 (to their UCSC email) from a BE Undergraduate advisor to set up an advising appointment.
During these appointments an advisor will provide information to students about which classes they are receiving credit for and recommendations on which major classes to enroll in for Fall 2024 prior to their fall enrollment date.
