The GIOD would like to announce that we are again offering an online introduction to bioinformatics, coding, and computational genomics for incoming frosh and transfer students.

This non-credit course is free and will be 100% online. The material will be delivered in short segments over four weeks allowing students time to digest the material and work on practice material before the next class meeting. The learning environment will be friendly and inclusive! The goal of this early introduction is to remove barriers, especially for first gen and BIPOC students, and to help them feel more comfortable with these computational skills.

No course credit is offered, but hopefully, the experience will encourage and empower students to consider bioengineering, bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer science as majors.

Dates of course: August 19th – September 13th, 2024

Class meetings: M,W,F 4:00- 5:50PM PDT
