Journey to Paris: UCSC iGEM team uses synthetic biology to tackle infant formula affordability
Undergraduate students on the UCSC International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team won a silver medal at the annual iGEM competition in Paris, after developing a new approach to genetically engineer the nutrient-rich organism spirulina.

Meet the Formula Slug Team
Formula Slug at UCSC engineers a fully electric formula-style vehicle for the Formula SAE Electric competition in Brooklyn, Michigan. We aim to provide students experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, project management, and business. Our team is open to students of all majors and levels of experience, and we provide students opportunities to practice hands-on engineering and meet industry leaders.
