The Wilmers Lab is looking for interns to create a graphical user interface and bluetooth transmission capabilities for an audio playback device called Ambiance. These speakers are used to mitigate human-wildlife conflict by simulating landscapes of fear and faciliate playback expeirments in basic ecology. Intern responsibilities include developing a GUI and bluetooth transmission capabilities from a STM32 Nucleo development board that will facilitate novice users of these playback speakers to seamlessly operate them with confidence without needing to modify internal code – as well as creating easily navigable open-source documentation and repositories of their work. We expect interns to have proficiency in Python and C/C++ programming languages. Interns should be able to independently troubleshoot problems encountered along the way and find solutions to said issues, especially for some peripheral components of our PCBs, which may have poor libraries. Please reach out to Mike Kowalski (mbkowals@ucsc.edu) for additional information and applications with a resume and cover letter detailing your interest in the internship and your qualifications.
