CMPM 15: Research Explorations is a 1-unit course where students of all backgrounds (first-years too!) explore themes in computing and design through low-commitment, student-led reading groups.
- Join two 4-week groups based on your interests
- Read and discuss research papers in weekly 1-hour meetings
- Present one paper per group
- Gain clarity and confidence in your career goals
- Build communication skills and supportive peer relationships
- Learn about faculty research—professors occasionally drop in to share more about their labs!
By the end of the course, students are encouraged to apply to active UCSC research labs. It’s a great way to explore research, connect with like-minded people, and open new academic opportunities.
