BananaBots is a newly founded, undergraduate-led interdisciplinary team at Baskin Engineering focused on designing human-centered assistive technologies for people with disabilities, mobility challenges, and caregiving needs.
BananaBots is meant for undergraduates who want hands-on experience building, testing, and iterating on technology. Members work on projects involving hardware prototyping, software development, data analysis, and systems design. Projects may be student-led or developed in collaboration with on-campus labs, giving students access to applied research without requiring formal lab membership.
Students from all engineering backgrounds are welcome, and no prior experience with assistive technology is required. Projects are structured to allow members to contribute in different ways while building practical, resume-ready skills in small, collaborative teams. Beyond technical work, BananaBots emphasizes responsible engineering, user-centered design, and real-world constraints, with the goal of creating assistive technologies that are effective, affordable, and genuinely useful.
